New Mexico's land is beautiful, wild, and rugged, and most hunters would probably agree it would be difficult to imagine a better place to hunt.
However, hunting in New Mexico can have one major drawback. After you've cut your teeth on hunting deer, you might be looking to try your hand at bigger game, and might have dreamed of hunting a bison or buffalo of your own. If that's the case, you've found yourself in the right place.
Bison are the largest game native to North America, and can be unpredictable and elusive, which means you're guaranteed to have a hunt you'll remember the rest of your life and can claim hunting the biggest game animal available. We recommend you keep this in mind and bring a weapon capable of taking them down, whether that's a rifle or you'd prefer an archery hunt.
Unfortunately, New Mexico does not have any public buffalo herds and does not issue hunting tags for bison or buffalo. That means that for many New Mexicans you will never get the chance to hunt a buffalo without extra effort. While there are a few private herds in New Mexico, continued drought has forced many of them to suspend their buffalo hunt operations.
At Hi Mountain Bison & Buffalo Hunts, we are pleased to offer you the chance to hunt a buffalo without the hassle of dealing with a long waiting list or the trouble of public bison herds. We've had many successful hunts you can see for yourself, and we would love to have you any time of year for your own buffalo hunt, and welcome all kinds of hunters for our guided, one on one hunting tours. In addition to our buffalo hunts, we also offer you help with harvesting the animals after they have completed their kills.
For a small fee you can have your buffalo harvested and skinned by us, or we can help you get in contact with local butchers. If, for any reason, you do not want to wait to have your buffalo hide tanned we can provide you hide from a bison that has been pre-tanned and you can be on your way without the usual wait.
We also offer corporate buffalo hunting trips to citizens of New Mexico, and would love to give you all the information you need or help you reserve your buffalo hunt. If you have any additional questions, please get in contact with us and we'll take care of everything.
